A postdoctoral position in oncogenic virus research is available in the Dept. of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida. The Renne Lab's research program studies the tumorigenic properties of cells latently infected with Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV). An innovative aspect of our work is the study of both short and long non-coding RNAs expressed by KSHV and by the infected host cell.
Our project, supported by a P01 grant, seeks to determine how incRNAs either expressed or deregulated by KSHV contribute to viral pathogenesis and tumorigenesis. Our approach uses genetics, genomics, and ribonomics to study the role of miRNAs and lncRNAs in γ-herpesvirus biology.
